Name: Princess Lily Portjoy
From: Tangled (AU)
Appearance: Like this, but generally less miserable!
Age: Twenty-two
Gender: Female
Personality:
Princess Lily is every bit the sweet, caring, loving soul her canon counterpart is. She loves for others to be happy and well-off, and believes in second chances, always. She's non-judgmental and, essentially, quite good; an optimist, through and through.

On the other hand, she is perfectly capable of being tricky and even manipulative when a goal is important to her. On that note, the girl is incredibly determined when she has a dream to reach. She just doesn't give up, even if she has to do some wrong - so long as it's not truly cruel - to get where she wants to be. She works hard, faces her fears, and thinks and acts her way around obstacles when she's on a mission.

However, she is also different from Rapunzel. Lily is not at all a naive and scared little girl. Though not exactly worldly, she has knowledge and is actually quite the forward-thinker, as detailed in her history. She loves to pursue knowledge. She has confidence... For the most part. More on that later. But really, not being put down by Gothel for eighteen years has done wonders for her self-esteem. She's also -- perhaps because of this confidence -- a bit flirtatious, but not to the point of loose morals. Additionally, because she didn't spend her life trapped in a tower, she is less easy to excite and distract, and has less hobbies -- Specifically, she still enjoys painting and knitting -- Also riding horseback! -- but that is it. Of course, being less easy to excite and distract than Rapunzel is... Still pretty easy to excite and distract.

Now, about the confidence thing... Lily can, for the most part, put on a confident act at all times. And, really, about eighty per-cent of the time? It's not an act. She really does feel good about who she is and believes that her forward-thinking is a good thing. But the other twenty per-cent of the time? She worries. She worries that her tutors and certain members of court are right; that she thinks too radically; that she isn't a proper princess. And, in all honesty, she does need to be more realistic about the changes she can make, as nice as her ideas are.

Backstory: Once upon a time, the beloved Queen of Corona was with child, but also extremely ill. The people of her kingdom went to search for a rumored magical flower that could heal anything and anyone... Which they found, and used to cure the queen. Soon, a healthy baby with long, golden hair was born.

Though a woman by the name of Gothel had been using the flower for hundreds of years to retain her youth, she never found the baby. The magic of the flower died with Gothel, for no one in the kingdom knew that cutting the baby's hair would drain it of it's power, golden color, and ability to grow longer. Needless to say, the princess's first haircut proved to have some surprising results.

Princess Lily Portjoy of Corona had a happy childhood with a loving family, She was raised to be royalty from the start, meeting a number of important people and being given lessons on a number of subjects related to one day ruling the kingdom. However, her parents always made sure she remembered that she was a person beyond a princess; that she had her own happiness to think about. The court was less understanding, and were frustrated with the stirs Princess Lily would try to cause, as well as her occasional lack of focus.

As far as those stirs go, they started when Lily, an animal lover from an early age, was sixteen. That was when the princess began her attempts to find better conditions for working animals, such as the palace guards' horses. While she has had some success, it is a battle she is still fighting. Her parents were quite proud of her for taking a stand, and this was when Lily was given her beloved pet, a fat white cat she called Cesar.

Lily was seventeen when she learned about the poverty in Corona, and she began to try to help those with little to get by on. She was backed fully on this not only by her parents, but by some of the members of court, and has had great success in creating programs where people who could work were given better jobs and people who could not were given what they needed. When she was eighteen, Lily began another movement. She began trying to give better rights to women, and though her parents supported her on this, it was considered far too radical by everyone else. Lily continued to fight for this cause, though.

Another thing happened when Lily was eighteen: The suitors began arriving; young bluebloods from nearby lands. But with Lily at age twenty-two, she has yet to find a man she feels she could build a life with.

Moral Standing: Mostly lawful good, but with sometimes she will bend rules and be sneaky for a g
Dreams: Equality for all humans and good treatment for animals are what she tends to go for when trying to make a change, but overall, Lily just dreams of moving Corona forward, to a better place.
Fears: That her dreams will never be realized and she will be a terrible princess. She also has the typical human fear of lack of control.

Princess Lily loved her parents, and she knew they loved her, as well. They were good and just and much beloved rulers, and they always did what they believed was best for the kingdom. They were just, Lily couldn’t help but think as she entered her bedroom after a long day of a princess’ duties, a bit… Old-fashioned.

No, that wasn’t right. It was more like Lily was too new-fashioned, she had to admit. Well, she didn’t think it was too much, but others… Her ideas seemed to frighten them, and it was so frustrating to her that they didn’t seem to understand why she thought the way she did, and vice-versa. Her parents weren’t as bad as the rest of the court, that much was certain.

Lily sighed and looked out at the moon; the opposite of the bright sun her kingdom used as a symbol. Could she really go on to be the queen of this land some day? Would anyone want her to be? Would she be able to make the changes she wanted to see, or would she have to pretend to agree with thoughts she found unfair or wrong? It probably wouldn’t matter, would it?

No, the princess reflected as she returned her attention to Cesar, she would never be queen if she couldn’t find a husband. And none of these suitors who came seemed to understand her any better than anyone else. Oh, they seemed like good people, yes, but they just weren’t in the same place as her, intellectually. Was she smarter than they were, or did they just think differently? Lily wasn’t sure she could say, but the point remained. She wanted someone she could really have conversation with. Oh, and love… Love was, of course, important to the young woman, but she was beginning to honestly doubt she’d find it.
